We are now hiring Press Brake Operators for our client, an engineering and manufacturing services supplier, located in Lexington, NC! This role is responsible for setting up and operating the power brake to bend, notch, punch, form roll, arc, or straighten metal plates, sheet metal and structural shapes according to blueprint or sketch specifications. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 6 months of experience with Press Brake operation or a certificate from a College or Technical School. We currently have openings on 2nd and 3rd shift, offering a starting pay rate of $12.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift differential, with the potential for more based on experience. Job Duties:
- Select, position, and align dies in machine ram and bed
- Turns set screws or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position
- Turns adjustment screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal, as indicated by calibrated scale or feelers
- Lay out or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates
- Positions work piece manually or with crane, to align layout marks to dies
- Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal
- Sets stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations
- Verify dimensions of work piece, and preheat metal
- Grinds laps or burrs from edges of work piece
- Operates apron brake which bends metal by forcing metal between movable apron and horizontal bending bar
- Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and the OHSA, and practice good housekeeping

- One year certificate from College or Technical School; or 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the company
- Ability to apply basic mathematics principles
- Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems, involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to occasionally walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working near moving mechanical parts, and occasionally being exposed to fumes or airborne particles, with moderate to loud noise
