We are assisting our client, a not-for-profit manufacturing company in Greensboro, in their search for a Sewing Supervisor! The primary responsibilities for this role include the supervision, direction and coordination of employees engaged in the fabrication, assembly and packaging of household and institutional items such as dish cloths, wash cloths, ironing board covers and pads, waxers, scrubbers, bath blankets, bed covers and similar items. Job Function:
- Consult with various supervisors, department heads and other personnel to obtain information and data, as well as assistance and understanding needed for the efficient operation of the Sewing Department
- Direct, instruct, train, advise and assign work to subordinates
- Follow progress of work and anticipate and investigate causes of delay and inadequate performance of standards, and take corrective action and make adjustments
- Interview, hire, transfer, terminate, promote and make wage recommendations within limits of responsibility
- Maintain supply of raw materials, component parts, packaging material and other necessary supplies, requisitioning as needed to ensure adequate level for uninterrupted production
- From daily production sheet, complete and submit report of individual employee performance to the Plant Manager
- Compile and submit daily absentee report to the Personnel Office
- Make minor adjustments to machines and equipment as necessary
- Operate electric fabric cutter as needed to supply machine sewers with material
- Provide assistance to departmental personnel and others as necessary or required
- Maintain required time and administrative records
- Observe company safety and personnel policies and practices as well as quantity and quality requirements

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous supervisory experience
- Knowledge of sewing machines, yarn and cloth cutters, staplers, plastic-wrap machines
- Knowledge of subassembly, final assembly and hand packaging operations
