We are now hiring Welders for our client, an engineering and manufacturing services supplier, located in Lexington, NC! This role is responsible for welding metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram, or work order. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 6 months of welding experience, and be able to read blueprints and pass a preliminary welding test. We currently have openings on all shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd), offering a starting pay rate of $14.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift differentials - with the potential for increase following the successful completion of a weld training class! Job Duties:
- Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks
- Selects torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal
- Connects regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders, and welding torch
- Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure, to obtain desired flame
- Holds torch at proper angle to metal and guides along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
- Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts
- Applies flux to workpiece instead of filler rod
- Preheats workpiece in furnace or with torch
- Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces
- Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines
- Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal
- Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter
- Cleans or degreases parts

- High School Diploma or equivalent; or 6-months to 1-year of related experience and/or training
- Must successfully pass the AWS D14.3 weld test before an offer of employment can be made; upon hire employee must successfully compete weld symbols and weld training classes
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and ability to read and use the metric and English systems
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
