We are currently seeking a Lab Technician for our quality assurance lab client in Greensboro! The Lab Technician is responsible for a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory operations, including making measurements, performing routine quantitative & qualitative biological chemical analytical tests, and researching technical literature and evaluating old processes.This temporary opportunity offers a pay rate of $18.00 per hour and is 3rd shift (10: 00pm-6: 30am), but candidates must be able to train on 1st shift for 30 days before transitioning to regular 3rd shift hours. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferably and have schedule flexibility to work overtime and weekends to meet manufacturing needs. - Perform analysis on finished goods using a variety of lab equipment.
- Knowledge and ability to perform batch testing, raw material testing, and batch adjustment calculations for all materials
- Evaluate results of tests conducted and approve those that meet all batch acceptance-testing specifications
- Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process product, and finished product as defined by quality specifications
- Ensure all product and raw material testing is completed in adherence to guidelines established in the QATM and quality system operating procedure
- Precisely document test results on quality control records and maintain records in accordance with department and company specifications
- Determine and appropriately communicate disposition of materials tested as defined in the material specifications and quality system operating procedures
- Prepare standard reagent solutions
- Calibrate and ensure proper maintenance of all laboratory equipment as needed
- Follow all safety and housekeeping procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the laboratory by using 5S principles
- Ability to work different shifts and overtime to meet manufacturing needs
- Use variety of laboratory glassware and instruments

- Bachelor s degree preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or Associates degree in Math or Chemistry
- Mainframe and or PC experience and computer literacy
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Background in chemical plant safety is preferred
- 2+ years Laboratory Technician experience is preferred
- Previous experience in or knowledge of plant quality control practices and wet chemistry
- Strong computer literacy including extensive skills with experience in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MRP Software, and strong familiarity of Window s based programs
- Knowledge of basic statistical principles
- HPLC, GC, FTIR or other instrument training, and knowledge of QC practices and quality assurance tools
- Familiarity and experience with ISO-9000 certification
- Experience in the specialty chemical industry or related industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, or health and hygiene products is preferred
- Experience working with detergent chemistry, raw materials and finished goods
- TQM orientation is preferred
- Ability to set up and operate special instruments following manufacturer s instructions with limited supervision
