The Resource is hiring a CAD Technician for our client, an architecture, engineering, and surveying firm, located in Richmond, VA. This is a permanent, Direct-Hire opportunity that offers a salary range of $45.,000 - $75,000 (depending on experience). The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technician will be responsible for using CAD software to create 2D and 3D drawings for survey and/or civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have CAD experience in the land development industry, but prior experience is not required with a sufficient education level. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of plans, plats, and contract documents in accordance with firm design standards, locality requirements, and client requirements
- Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional following established procedures and clearly defined processes
- Produce final CAD drawings and project documents efficiently and accurately
- Perform horizontal and vertical computations in preparation of survey and engineering related documents and draft surveys from field notes
- Check completed work and participate in the submittal and review process with local authorities
- Develop an understanding of survey and engineering concepts and processes as they relate to the assigned work
- Read and follow CAD Standards and Operating Procedures, including standards, conventions, and guidelines, implementing them in daily assignments to maintain uniformity in work products
- Collaborate with project managers and design staff to provide status updates, discuss challenges, and address plan revisions
- Use AutoCAD proficiently in daily assignments
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required; Associates degree in survey, geography, civil engineering, GIS or architecture is preferred
- High proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Carlson is required
- Prior land development experience is preferred but not required
- Valid Virginia driver’s license is required
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the firm
- Ability to use a computer and software packages confidently
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed technical written or oral instructions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD and other discipline specific software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Highly motivated with a strong sense of urgency
