Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Cherry Picker Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for efficiently moving raw materials and finished goods to designated work areas or storage locations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, safety-conscious, and skilled at managing inventory and ensuring the smooth flow of production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supply operators with raw materials and transport finished goods to the next production step or storage.
- Notify the supervisor of material shortages or low inventory levels.
- Operate hand trucks, carts, and pallet jacks to move materials within the department.
- Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Help with packaging finished products and preparing them for palletizing and storage.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all safety protocols.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the department supervisor.
- Receive, organize, and securely store products in designated locations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of received and shipped materials, including transaction dates and details.
- Review shipments for quality and accuracy and ensure documentation is correct.
- Expedite shipments as necessary to prevent production delays.
- Load, transport, and handle materials, supplies, and finished goods manually or with equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with vendors or contractors as they arise.
- Validate, approve, and forward invoices to the accounting department.
- Collect and dispose of scrap material such as cardboard, bracing, and strapping.
- Proficient in reading and writing; able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Strong mathematical skills for basic operations.
- Ability to safely operate carts, shop trucks, hand jacks, and other material-moving equipment.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify defects in products.
- Competency in threading various sewing machines, changing needles, and making minor adjustments (for textile departments).
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of three years’ experience as a Cherry Picker Operator or in a similar role.
