Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical HMIS Data Analyst to join our dynamic data team. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, understands database management, and is eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. This role requires exceptional communication skills, both as a leader and a team player, with a strong focus on project management and a commitment to supporting organizations working to prevent and end homelessness. The HMIS Data Analyst will assist in tracking, managing, analyzing, and overseeing data for the Continuum of Care (CoC) NC-500 and ensure the accuracy of data within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Key Responsibilities:

Data Management & Analysis:
  • Oversee the technical design and implementation of the Coordinated Entry workflow within HMIS.
  • Ensure ongoing accuracy and analysis of data for the CoC’s Coordinated Entry system.
  • Create and manage complex spreadsheets and generate reports/queries to monitor Coordinated Entry data quality and performance.
  • Assist in maintaining the Annual Performance Report (APR) schedule and preparing HMIS data for submission.
Compliance & Training:
  • Stay current with HUD and HMIS regulations, standards, and guidance. Communicate relevant updates to HMIS users and community stakeholders.
  • Attend HMIS Lead webinars hosted by HUD and other relevant data training sessions.
  • Provide training and guidance to Coordinated Entry Planning Entities to enhance understanding and strategic decision-making.
Collaboration & Support:
  • Work closely with division members to ensure the CoC’s HMIS needs are accurately reflected in the database.
  • Configure provider pages based on grant information and their function in the CoC.
  • Lead and manage projects to assess and address ongoing gaps and barriers in data collection and analysis for the Coordinated Entry program.
  • Monitor outcomes and support improvements for local Coordinated Entry.
Reporting & Communication:
  • Check data quality and communicate with HMIS users to ensure accuracy and readiness for submission.
  • Attend CoC meetings to provide HMIS expertise, answer data-related questions, and offer updates or training sessions.
  • Participate in the Annual Point in Time Count.
