The Resource is hiring a Highway Maintenance Technician- Driver for our client, a specialty infrastructure maintenance contractor, located in  Mount Airy, NC! This is a permanent, Direct-Hire opportunity that offers a pay rate of $16.50 per hour, and has a 1st shift schedule. Responsibilities: 
- Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality as outlined in company attendance policy
- Travels out of town to jobsite location on, at least, a weekly basis
- Wears all required PPE during the course of work, including steel toe boots, and will not deface, modify, or otherwise damage required PPE
- Completes all pre-trip inspections and keeps accurate and up-to-date driving logs
- Notifies Supervisor of needed repairs to vehicles and equipment in a timely manner
- Operates forklift to load materials for transport to work location (only if licensed by API)
- Loads Fibrecrete material by lifting the block up approximately 4.5 feet, placing it on the back of the truck bed for transportation or tearing block open and passing it up approximately 4.5 feet to viper machine
- Loads topping stones by lifting bags up approximately 4.5 feet, placing them on the back of the truck bed
- Assists in loading whatever tools and equipment are needed such as wheelbarrows, shovels, brooms, signs, cones, etc.
- Secures all materials loaded on the vehicle to ensure they will not fall off while being transported
- Drives company vehicle when requested to the job site or travels as a passenger if requested in the company vehicle
- Sets up traffic control by placing signs and cones in the appropriate area
- Must constantly be aware of where you are on the job site because of the hazard of oncoming traffic
- Performs flagging duties when the job site requires and for the state certified to do so
- Operates heavy equipment at the job site as needed such as jackhammer, road saw, milling machine, etc., to prepare the surface for filling material
- Helps lift hot box off the back of the truck then fills it with hot material from the Viper machine, then pushes the box over areas to be filled, releasing material filling the prepared area
- Distributes topping stones by hand over any area that has been filled and cleans up the area with appropriate cleaning tools
- Performs all operations required to clean bridge joints out and refill with material
- Enters culverts/manholes/confined spaces to repair pipe joints with different materials, including foam
- Drills holes in slabs then pumps foam material with nozzles to raise the slab
- Cleans all equipment involved in pumping foam.
- Follows all safety and traffic laws; keeping the company vehicle neat and clean.
- Will not pose a direct threat to other employees or to the general public while on the job site or other location during the course of duties or while out of town for work.
- Performs other duties as directed by Crew Supervisor/Project Manager

Physical Requirements:
- Frequently must lift 5 to 50 pounds, infrequently 50 to 100 pounds
- Infrequently must push a hot box weighing up to 400 pounds on the road surface, including inclines
- Continuously must stand performing duties
- Frequently stoops, kneels and twists
- Frequently must use feet to actuate pedals on equipment or vehicles
- Continuously must reach below shoulder height, infrequently at or above
- Infrequently must exert a strong grip in both hands operating jackhammer road saw; Frequently moderate grip in handling tools and driving vehicles
- Frequently must use good hand-eye coordination in using hand tools and driving vehicles
- Continuously must use highly accurate depth perception in judging distance from the passing lane of traffic
- Infrequently must use the ability to hear the spoken voice clearly (with or without a hearing aid)
- Continuously must use the ability to hear warning beepers, horns, or sirens over 70 decibels
- Infrequently must use comprehensible speech
- Infrequently exposed to vibration from a jackhammer and road saw
- Continuously exposed to road noise
- Continuously exposed to the outside environment hot and cold temperatures
- Continuously must use the ability to work closely with others on a team
- Continuously must have sustained concentration working in a safety-sensitive situation concerning traffic at the job site

Qualifications: 
- Must have as a minimum a valid (active) Class C North Carolina driver’s license or equivalent of resident state
- Must be able to speak and understand Basic English. Possess a high school level of reading, writing, and math skills and have earned a High School diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to pass all required safety training
- Must have a good motor vehicle driving record
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical and will be subject to random and for cause testing
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have, or have access to, reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a consistent basis
- Must be flexible to work either nighttime or daytime
- Must be available to work and stay out of town for extended periods of time. The job is 100% travel
