The Resource is hiring an Insurance Verification Specialist for our client, a health care company, located in Winston-Salem. This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity that offers a pay rate between $17.00- $20.00 per hour (depending on experience) and has a 1st shift working schedule (8:00am- 5:00pm). Candidates for this role will train on-site and then transition to a remote role The Insurance Verification Specialist would be responsible for ensuring appropriate insurance verification, i.e. correct coverage, applicable benefits, and coordination of benefits, reviewing authorization requirements, and communicating with other hospital departments. Ideal candidates for this role should have experience with pre-authorization for medical procedures via phone, excellent communication skills, experience with patient access, basic medical terminology knowledge, and exemplary keyboarding skills. Responsibilities:
- Ensuring appropriate insurance verification, i.e. correct coverage, applicable benefits, and coordination of benefits
- Reviewing authorization requirements and ensuring approvals are obtained for surgeries, radiology/ancillary appointments, and hospital stays
- Communicate with other hospital departments including admitting/registration, financial counseling, and utilization review Communicate with provider offices (i.e. surgery schedulers, patient service coordinators, etc.) to ensure authorization initiation, gather additional clinical information, relay pertinent insurance information, etc.
- Communicate with insurance providers via phone and electronically via web portals to validate patient benefits, check authorization requirements, and review authorization status
- Maintaining and properly handling inbound and outbound calls
Qualifications:
- High School or GED Required 2 Year / Associate Degree Preferred
Minimum one year in patient access, registration, billing, insurance and/or precertification, any call center or customer service experience required
- Experience with insurance carriers or third- party administrators is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience and competency in customer relation skills in a professional environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a stressful environment
- Ability to work effectively/productively as a member of a team and is self-directed in a remote work environment in various types of environments (e.g. onsite corporate locations, remote/home office)
Good problem-solving skills. Basic medical terminology
- Exemplary keyboarding skills and experience in patient registration systems (i.e. Epic)
- Ability to understand how job performance affects the outcomes of key performance indicators such as denials and write-offs
