Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker or Machinist to join our client’s team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to apply their skills in tool making, machining, and mold maintenance. The role includes tasks such as building and repairing injection molds, operating conventional and CNC machinery, and ensuring the quality of parts.
Key Responsibilities:
Tool and Die Maker:
- Build, maintain, and repair injection molds, fixtures, and equipment.
- Analyze specifications, set up, and operate tool room equipment to fabricate component parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair mold issues, providing support to molding departments as needed.
- Train and assist other mold makers and machinists in mold-building processes.
- Capable of welding various metals and performing basic CNC operations (manual machine operations included).
- Follow safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out and mold tagging programs.
- Perform preventive maintenance and work on new mold builds as required.
- Operate all equipment within the tool room, ensuring top-quality work and safety compliance.
- Set up and operate conventional machines, CNC lathes, and mills.
- Perform basic CNC programming and tooling setup to achieve accurate machining results.
- Conduct mold changeovers and assist in mold repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Use precision measuring instruments to ensure quality control and part conformity.
- Solve machining issues with strong knowledge of mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Support in continuous improvement initiatives, including fixture production and product optimization.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Tool and Die Maker:
- Completion of a certified mold making apprenticeship program, machinist certification, or related degree.
- 4 to 8 years of experience in mold building and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret tool and product drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments and other quality control tools.
- Experience with welding and basic CNC operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Completion of a 1-year certificate from a college or technical school, or 2+ years of relevant experience or training.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and work instructions.
- Proficient in mathematical concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, and statistical analysis.
- Experience with CNC programming, setup, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and equipment, including measuring instruments.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds and work in a moderately noisy environment.
