We're currently seeking a skilled Machinist for our Flow Control Machine Shop to join our team on the 2nd shift.
Position Overview:
As a Machinist, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of incoming material, including verification, dimensional accuracy checks, and part number confirmation. You will set up and operate conventional CNC lathes and mills, ensuring high-quality work according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, dispatch instructions, and technical data to produce high-quality work.
- Perform simple setups and operate manual and CNC machines (lathes and mills).
- Mount and align fixtures and chuck jaws to optimize setup efficiency.
- Upload and download programs to/from CNC machines.
- Use precision measuring instruments and quality control tools to inspect and verify parts.
- Troubleshoot and adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions and out-of-tolerance issues.
- Complete and maintain setup sheets, inspection logs, labor sheets, and move tickets.
- Comply with Lean principles and 5S practices to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in reading and writing simple correspondence and reports.
- Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and understanding fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or
- Two years of relevant experience and/or training, or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands/fingers to manipulate tools and controls.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Required vision capabilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work with moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to electrical risks.
- Moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection provided as needed.
- Mandatory use of safety glasses while on the plant floor.
- Adhere to safety protocols and participate in Lean 5S initiatives to ensure a safe work area.
