Job Description
The Resource is currently recruiting Machinists for our global rail industry client in Winston Salem, NC! These are permanent, Direct Hire opportunities with current openings on 2nd & 3rd shifts, and pay ranging from $21.00-26.00 per hour, based on experience and shift. Responsibilities will include a variety of machine-specific functions from setting-up equipment, loading materials and operating machinery, to monitoring and optimizing efficiency, maintaining machines and performing quality checks. Responsibilities:
- Operate various machines to produce parts for the locomotive industry in accordance with specifications, guidelines and checklists, and in compliance with safety policies
- Operate manual machines including horizontal mills, engine lathes, and manual grinders
- Use precision gauges and instruments such as micrometers to determine and follow customers specifications
- Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving and cutting, including taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, reprogramming controls, replacing worn tools
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts
- Perform all duties and responsibilities within time standards allowed
- Troubleshoot and repair various machines
- Train other employees.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience, technical or specific
- Possess expertise and/or certification in Advanced Welding Techniques
- Certification in Non-Destructive Testing is preferred
- High level of machining Aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Comfortable lifting 50lbs, with stamina and strength to work in tight and confined spaces while installing or repair machinery and components
- Use of proper PPE is required
- Ability to read QWI and schematics and understand instructions
- Strict adherence to safety policies
