We' re seeking a Sewing Maintenance Mechanic for our nonprofit client at their manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem! This is a permanent, Direct Hire opportunity with a 1st shift schedule (7: 00am-4: 00pm), and a pay rate of $18.00 per hour. The Sewing Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Operations Manager/Maintenance Lead and will be responsible for maintaining and supporting all sewing physical structures and mechanical operations, following all established work and safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in plant maintenance, and forklift experience is preferred. - Perform scheduled, unscheduled, routine and preventive maintenance on all plant equipment, specifically industrial sewing machines
- Perform routine inspections on all plant equipment
- Diagnose mechanical problems, determining and carrying out corrective action
- Perform facility maintenance on required projects involving electrical wiring, plumbing, physical structures and fixtures that are within scope of knowledge
- Complete production related, physical plant related and property related construction, maintenance, refurbishing and installation of new equipment
- Retrieve parts from vendors as needed for repairs
- Work jointly with the Trainer to design/improve any machine, work station or fixtures that would allow a visually impaired person to perform a task
- Perform other duties as apparent or as deemed necessary by the Production Manager and/or the Maintenance Lead

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in physical plant maintenance
- Training/experience in mechanical, electrical, and general plumbing
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop and turn for a minimum of 8 hours daily
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry for 20 feet or more
- Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime
- Must wear steel toed shoes
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to hear and discern by sound any equipment malfunction
- Must possess, or be willing to obtain forklift certification
- Must have a valid driver s license
- Must be able to work professionally as part of a team with other department employees
- Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures
- Must perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workloads
