Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Welcome, NC

Job Summary: As a Manufacturing Engineer you will play a crucial role in driving product performance, cost efficiency, and quality improvements for Transfer Switches and Power Control Systems. You will lead initiatives in accordance with our Clients Procedures and industry best practices, acting as a key liaison between Design Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and integrity.

Essential Functions:
  • Liaison Role: Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure product quality and performance align with company standards.
  • Operations Leadership: Coordinate efforts in problem prevention, resolution, product improvements, and cost reduction as the operations engineering lead.
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Address and troubleshoot all electro-mechanical issues during the production process.
  • Process Optimization: Design work cell and line layouts to enhance material flow and ergonomics.
  • Cost Reduction: Develop and implement strategies for product and process cost improvements.
  • Equipment and Process Implementation: Investigate, select, and implement new equipment and processes for enhanced performance.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and update Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans.
  • Quality Initiatives: Lead and support the Quality First Initiative to ensure top-tier product standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Documentation: Create and maintain Work Instructions and Manufacturing Procedures within an ISO-approved environment.
  • Lean Improvements: Drive lean initiatives, define standard work, and support Kaizen events aligned with Value Stream Mapping. Lead 6S projects and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts.
  • Engineering Investigations: Resolve engineering inquiries and initiate Engineering Change Orders for product enhancements.
  • Capital Management: Oversee equipment selection, capital justification, and procurement for necessary investments.
  • Routing Management: Establish and input product routings into the JD Edwards MRP system.
  • Tool and Fixture Implementation: Identify and implement tools and fixtures to enhance product and process performance.
  • BOM and Drawing Review: Review and correct product Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering drawings as needed.
  • Product Knowledge Development: Acquire detailed knowledge of ASCO product lines and processing techniques.
  • Pilot Projects: Participate in Pilot Run projects and facilitate new product introductions and product line transfers.
  • Safety Promotion: Foster a safe work environment by developing Job Safety and Ergonomic Analyses to minimize risks.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Test, Manufacturing, and Applications Engineering, to collaboratively resolve product issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, teamwork-oriented environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Creo is a plus.
  • High-energy, hands-on individual capable of multitasking and working with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BSIE required).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing practices is a definite plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, audits, and inspection techniques; experience with ISO9001 certification is advantageous.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Experience with MRP systems; JD Edwards (JDE) experience is a plus.
