Job Summary:
As a City Public Worker in the Water Department, you’ll be responsible for performing tasks essential to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of our city's water infrastructure. From operating equipment to ensuring the quality of our water supply, this role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in serving the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of water lines, hydrants, and water distribution systems.
- Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance tasks on water-related equipment.
- Operate light to heavy machinery safely and effectively, including backhoes, pumps, and utility vehicles.
- Conduct routine tests to monitor water quality and pressure in compliance with state and local regulations.
- Respond to water-related emergencies, including main breaks and leaks, and work to resolve issues promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience with water systems, public works, or utilities (preferred).
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment; mechanical skills are a plus.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one.
