Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Coordinator (QAC) plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with Company standard operating procedures and regulations. This role involves overseeing medical record reviews, form completion, tissue storage, packaging, shipping, blood and microbiologic specimen testing, filing, and various other assigned duties. The QAC will complete background and reference checks, drug screening, and be subject to periodic, unannounced re-testing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of professional, multi-disciplinary tasks as part of the quality assurance process.
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations, including HIPAA, and other relevant privacy rules.
- Adhere to and perform tasks regulated by AATB, FDA, and other State and Federal Agencies.
- Review medical records and forms for completion and accuracy, ensuring proper documentation practices.
- Handle blood and microbiologic specimens, completing and submitting test requisition forms accurately.
- Obtain donor medical records in compliance with all standards.
- Package, label, and ship tissue and specimens according to regulatory guidelines.
- Document all activities in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner to maintain high-quality records.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical background experience (e.g., RNs or similar healthcare professionals).
- Associate’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical documentation processes.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, with physical stamina to handle tasks requiring mobility.
- Must have a current valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage with a wide range of individuals, including patients and hospital staff.
- Ability to work well under pressure without compromising the quality of work.
