Job Description
We're hiring a Quality Inspector for our client, a finishing materials supplier, at their facility in Kernersville, NC! This position is Temp-to-Hire, offers a pay rate of $17.00 per hour and has a 3rd shift working schedule (12:00am-8:00am). Candidates must be able to train on 1st shift before transitioning. The Lab technician would be responsible for testing incoming fabric and products, reporting test results, and verifying and operating equipment. Qualified candidates for this role must be able to perform data entry to statistical quality control software, and have basic math and reading skills. Responsibilities:
- Test incoming fabric, finished fabric and coated fabric according to finished fabric specification and customers’ requirements in all production areas of the company
- Report test results on lab test forms accurately and completely within established time periods according to specification
- Verify and operate Instron equipment. Use load cells, verify, etc
- Conduct special tests as directed by Lab Manager or QA Manager
- Test incoming product mixes according to batch card
- Notify frame operators and production shift supervisor immediately after testing out of spec. result
- Keep work area clean and orderly and maintain safe work habits; have the ability to operate fire extinguishers, fire evacuation plan, eye wash stations, and be aware of chemical spill stations and act on chemical spills
- Be aware of urethane coating requirements and testing
- Be familiar with: all test equipment and the tests performed on each, adhesion tests, work instructions, outside department testing and processing of incoming swatches, and finish fabric specifications
- Will be cross-trained in at least one other area to remain productive during low volume periods
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to perform data entry to statistical quality control software
- Basic math and reading skills
- Must be able to walk, bend, and stoop throughout the shift
- Must be comfortable lifting up to 30lbs
