Our client is now hiring a 2nd Shift (4: 00pm-12: 30am) Quality Technician to join their Quality Control Department. This opportunity is Temp-to-Hire offering a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. This department is responsible for the daily evaluation of raw materials, outsourced products, intermediate products and finished goods from the production departments as well as outside vendors. The large volume of flavors and variety of laboratory tests require a very detail-oriented individual who can not only perform the required duties, but also document the results in the required format. The Quality Technician will have the primary responsibility of performing routine quality control testing using a variety of laboratory testing equipment and procedures. Responsibilities:
- Operate all equipment to perform routine QC tests (including Density Meter, Refractometer, Moisture Balance, Lab Balance, HunterLab ColorQuest XE, Spectrophotometer, Distillation Apparatus, pH Meter, Gluten testing using the EZ Gluten test, Charms novaLum ATP Meter, Centrifuge)
- Use analytical glassware properly, including Volumetric Flasks, Volumetric Pipets, Titration burettes, Graduated Cylinder, Pipettor
- Prepare solutions as needed including Tasting solutions (5% sugar solution and beverage concentrates, Standard color solutions for spectrophotometer verification)
- Understanding of MS Excel, LIMS system, ColorQuest XE software
- Recognize when results are out of specification, when information is missing from Batch Tickets, and ensure that intermediates used have not expired
- Collect microbiological samples properly, sterilize equipment, Collect sample sizes and compound samples, Complete micro lab chain-of-custody documentation, and Enter batch information onto Micro Log
- Provide correct services for HVC (High-Valued Customer) testing, Initiate correct testing in proper order, Collect sample once all results are within specification, and Prepare samples for GC testing
- Evaluate new batches of products, perceive visual and organoleptic properties of products, Determine whether new batches meet specifications, and Recognize when additional testing is needed before releasing
- Keep QC retains organized, retrieve and file QC retains, and Assist in discarding older retains
- Adhere to Safety Regulations and Procedures as trained
- Follow all procedures as written in the SOP

Requirements:
- High School Diploma with at least 1 year of related work experience, or a Bachelor' s degree in Chemistry or Biology
- Basic computer skills
- Good attention to detail
- Good Communication Skills
- Ability to transcribe results accurately
- Ability to work occasional overtime and/or weekends as required
- Ability to successfully pass a sensory acuity test
- Basic mathematical skills
