Job Description
We're now hiring a Resident Advisor for our client, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, counseling, supporting, and empowering individuals, children and families in Forsyth County. This is a Contract opportunity, working 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 4:00pm-12:00am), with a pay rate of $15.72 per hour.
The Resident Advisor is responsible for ensuring victims of domestic violence and sexual assault reside in a harmonious and supportive environment that promotes their healing and safety. Candidates must have previous experience in human services, crisis intervention skills, knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault and trauma informed practices, and bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills are preferred. Essential Functions:
- Manage shelter facility and assist in meeting the immediate needs of the guests, including handling emergencies
- Conduct intakes, provide crisis intervention services and assist in the recovery process of victims by screening and assessing requests for services
- Maintain an inventory of food supplies and maintenance needs
- Assure quality service by knowing and enforcing rules, regulations, legal requirements and community resources
- Maintain necessary records for programming and accountability
- Plan and facilitate new resident orientation sessions
- Assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of the facility, including cleaning of communal spaces as needed and the sorting of donations
- Maintain good customer service and rapport with guests, promote positive morale, and explain personnel policies and procedures to all program staff members
- Develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with external partners through amenable and cooperative contracts
- Promote a positive image of the Agency by ensuring an understanding of program services available, publicizing activities/accomplishments and abiding by a professional code of ethics
- Provide primary coverage for crisis calls during shift as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- College experience is preferred
- At least 1-year of experience in human services
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) is preferred
- Demonstrated crisis intervention skills, knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault and trauma informed practices
- Demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of regional psychosocial, cultural, religious and economic differences
- Ability to work flexible/overtime hours, as needed, including holidays and weekends
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between various Agency sites and community resources as well as professional conferences
- Must complete 20 hours of related training on an annual basis
