Residential Development Manager – Real Estate Development

As both owner and builder, they develop, construct, lease, and manage their own properties with a strong focus on quality, accountability, and long-term value.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Residential Development Manager to oversee and execute real estate development projects from site acquisition through final delivery. This role requires a strong background in land development, financial analysis, project management, and market strategy.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and relationship-building skills to drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate new residential development opportunities
- Conduct market research, feasibility studies, and financial underwriting
- Lead all phases of development including site acquisition, entitlements, design, and construction
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and timelines to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, brokers, and government agencies
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, consultants, and development partners
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate regulations
- Monitor project performance and adjust strategies to meet financial and operational goals
- Present project updates, financials, and progress reports to senior leadership
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, investors, and industry partners
- Drive achievement of project proformas and budget targets
- Proven experience as a Residential Development Manager or similar role
- Strong understanding of the real estate development lifecycle and market trends
- Experience with site acquisition, underwriting, entitlements, and construction management
- Excellent project management, leadership, and organizational skills
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities
- Knowledge of zoning, permitting, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and proforma development
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Business, Construction Management, or related field (required)
- Master’s Degree or professional certification in Real Estate Development or Project Management (preferred)
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships
