About Us:
Our Client, a trusted leader in nuclear technology and metal fabrication, is seeking a Shop Superintendent for its nuclear fabrication group located in Kernersville, NC. This key leadership role will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations within our metal fabrication facility, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met while maintaining full compliance with all applicable regulations.

As the Shop Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing the shop floor operations, supervising hourly personnel, and working closely with departments such as Quality, Engineering, and Project Management to deliver superior products that meet our clients' specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead, direct, and supervise a team of 40-45 hourly employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring alignment with company goals and safety metrics.
  • Production & Performance Management: Monitor and report on production goals, objectives, and performance metrics, communicating progress and challenges across the organization.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Resource Planning: Identify, forecast, and plan for human resource and equipment needs to support production goals, while also developing talent for future growth within the team.
  • Training & Development: Ensure all required training is completed and maintain accurate records of employee certifications and qualifications.
  • Quality Control: Oversee the implementation of stringent quality control measures to ensure all products meet customer expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with Engineering teams to assist in developing and refining procedures, processes, and methods for efficient manufacturing.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify operational issues and provide recommendations for resolution. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Monitor and manage departmental budgets to meet financial targets, ensuring cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Workforce Scheduling & Timecards: Oversee and approve all manufacturing personnel timecards according to established schedules, ensuring accurate payroll processing.
  • General Leadership: Support senior management in other tasks and responsibilities as required to meet organizational goals.
Required Qualifications:
  • Metal Fabrication Experience: Proven experience in metal fabrication, with an in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and operations.
  • Shop Floor Management: Previous experience managing a shop floor, ideally overseeing 40-45 hourly employees in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Quality Control Knowledge: Strong knowledge and understanding of stringent quality control programs and methods to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions.
  • Nuclear Industry Experience: Experience in the nuclear fabrication industry is a plus but not required.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards relevant to manufacturing operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Nuclear Fabrication Background: Experience working in the nuclear fabrication field, particularly with regulatory and quality control standards specific to the nuclear industry.
  • Training & Development: Prior experience in training and developing manufacturing staff, with a focus on operational excellence and safety.
