We' re seeking skilled Machinists to join our client, a supplier of railroad and transit system products and services, located in Winston-Salem! This opportunity will be a 6-9 month contract assignment within the Machining Operations Department, working a 1st shift schedule in a climate-controlled facility, with a pay range of $20.00-26.00 per hour depending on position. The responsibilities of the Machinist include setting up, operating and adjusting all machines and equipment in a computer controlled manufacturing system, equipped with a supervisory control which integrates all machine controllers and programmable controllers within the system. Qualified candidates must be comfortable with computers, be able to read blueprints, and have experience with Geometry and/or Trigonometry. - Setup, operate and adjust all machine tools to perform all cutting tool maintenance
- Perform quality inspections, chart quality data, and monitor quality trends
- Assist in scheduling manufacturing cells
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform adjustments or repairs to axle products to meet quality standards
- Utilize fixtures & templates
- Perform machining operations using standard work documents, blueprints, safe job procedures, and visual aids within
- Perform rework without standard work documents as needed
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback in areas of quality, safety, velocity, and cost
- Maintain and conduct preventive maintenance on machines, check air pressures, oil levels and perform minimal maintenance to correct issues
- Transport very heavy loads with crane, power pusher, or electric pallet jack
- Capable of interpreting technical instructions, dealing with large degrees of variation with part and process consistency

- High School Diploma or equivalent, and/or Technical Degree in Machining, or at least 5 years of experience in Machining
- Computer literate
- Ability to read blueprints, and read and comprehend complex instructions, technical correspondence and memos
- Ability to write effective correspondence, and present information in one-on-one and group situations
- Precious experience with Geometry/Trigonometry
- Excellent problem identification, diagnostic skills, communication and teamwork to ensure component quality levels
- Must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
- Must be a self-starter with ability to demonstrate strong initiative
- Comfortable frequently walking up and down the floor to platforms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling inside the axel
- Comfortable lifting/moving up to 35 pounds repetitively, and wearing all required personal protective equipment
