Job Description
The Resource is seeking aa Survey Office Technician for our client in Roanoke, VA. This is a permanent, Direct-Hire opportunity that offers a salary range of $51,000-$77,000 per year (depending on experience). The Survey technician would be responsible for the planning, processing, evaluation, quality control, documentation, reporting, platting and production of survey services and deliverables. Ideal candidates for this role should have strong working knowledge of land surveying field work, data collection, survey and CADD standards and practices, local ordinances and processes as they pertain to the practice of land surveying, survey services, products and deliverables. Responsibilities:
- Understands can operate survey equipment effectively
- Develops relationships with land surveyors, crew chiefs, clients, colleagues, public officials, contractors and others to ensure satisfactory performance of survey work
- Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys
- Visits sites to consider physical evidence
- Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features
- Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments
- Performs processes on computer to establish property lines, physical locations, contour lines, stakeouts and related maps, plats or exhibits
- Creates and maintains in the base drawing, "Rev Logs", documentation and reports supporting and qualifying the projects work processes, production and progress
- Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project
- Uses AutoCad/Carlson and other required software effectively to complete work efficiently and accurately
- Assists with training new staff in simpler tasks
Qualifications:
- Possesses a developed understanding of survey principles
- Possesses strong skills in surveying / drafting software
- Strong ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence
- Strong ability to write correspondence and communicate effectively in written and verbal form
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts
- Ability to translate findings to solve problems and set up jobs
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and oral instructions
- 2 or more years of related experience required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Valid Virginia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
