Job Description
The Resource is now hiring Welders for our client, a metal fabrication company located in Lexington! This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity, with openings on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift, and a starting pay rate of $19.28- $21.28 per hour (depending on shift). Welders are responsible for operating automatic, mechanized, or robotic welding equipment. Duties also include preparing workpieces, setting up welding equipment, and performing welding tasks to produce high-quality welds that meet structural and dimensional requirements. The Welder works as part of a team in a manufacturing or fabrication environment to contribute to the production of welded components and assemblies. Ideal candidates will have previous work experience in operating MIG and TIG welding equipment and able to read and follow diagrams for work orders. Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or welding symbols to determine welding requirements and specifications
- Prepare workpieces for welding by cleaning, degreasing, and positioning them according to assembly instructions
- Set up MIG and TIG welding equipment, including selecting appropriate wire, gas, and voltage settings based on material type and thickness
- Adjust welding parameters, such as wire feed speed and travel speed, to achieve desired weld characteristics and penetration
- Perform welding operations to join metal parts together, following established welding procedures and safety guidelines
- Maintain proper torch angle, arc length, and welding technique to produce consistent and high-quality welds
- Monitor welding process for defects, such as porosity, undercut, or incomplete fusion, and make adjustments as needed to ensure weld integrity
- Inspect welded joints for visual defects, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to welding specifications
- Use measuring tools, gauges, or other inspection equipment to verify weld dimensions and tolerances
- Repair or rework welds that do not meet quality standards and document any deviations for review
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices
- Maintain awareness of potential hazards associated with welding operations and take proactive measures to prevent accidents or injuries
