<br />
The <strong>Project Field Engineer (Civil)</strong> performs professional engineering work supporting <strong>roadway resurfacing</strong>, <strong>sidewalk repairs</strong>, and <strong>guardrail installation</strong> projects. Under general supervision, this role ensures public safety, structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and successful delivery of municipal infrastructure projects from design review through construction completion.<br />

This position is ideal for a <strong>civil engineer</strong> with experience in construction inspection, contractor coordination, and public works or transportation projects.<br />
<br />
<strong>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</strong><br> 

<ul>
&#9;<li>Serve as <strong>Project Field Engineer</strong> for contracted services including sidewalk repairs, guardrail installation, and roadway resurfacing</li>
&#9;<li>Develop and manage <strong>procurement</strong> for field-related engineering and construction services</li>
&#9;<li>Act as liaison between <strong>consultants, contractors, City/County departments, agencies, and the public</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Review <strong>plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, schedules</strong>, and engineering documents for accuracy and completeness</li>
&#9;<li>Coordinate the <strong>construction bidding process</strong>, including:
&#9;<ul>
&#9;&#9;<li>Bid document preparation</li>
&#9;&#9;<li>Pre-bid conferences</li>
&#9;&#9;<li>Bid openings</li>
&#9;&#9;<li>Pre-construction meetings</li>
&#9;</ul>
&#9;</li>
&#9;<li>Review and approve <strong>submittals, invoices, and payment applications</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to ensure project timelines, objectives, and quality standards are met</li>
&#9;<li>Perform <strong>construction site inspections</strong> to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations</li>
&#9;<li>Prepare <strong>cost estimates</strong>, administer contracts, inspect contractor work, and approve <strong>provisional payments</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Track and manage <strong>project budgets and schedules</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Apply knowledge of <strong>open and enclosed drainage systems</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Perform related engineering duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
<strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong><br />

<strong>Education & Experience</strong>

<ul>
&#9;<li><strong>Bachelorâs degree</strong> with coursework in <strong>Civil Engineering</strong> or a closely related field</li>
&#9;<li>Equivalent combination of education and experience considered</li>
</ul>
<strong>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</strong>

&#9;<li>Knowledge of modern <strong>civil engineering methods and practices</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Working knowledge of <strong>survey systems</strong>, engineering drafting, and construction documentation</li>

&#9;<li>Ability to prepare <strong>technical reports</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Proficiency in <strong>Microsoft Office Suite</strong> and position-specific engineering software</li>

<strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong>

<ul>
&#9;<li><strong>Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in North Carolina</strong><br />
&#9;<em>or</em> <strong>Engineer Intern (EI)</strong> actively pursuing NC P.E. licensure</li>
&#9;<li>Experience with <strong>CAD and GIS</strong></li>
&#9;<li>Background in <strong>municipal, transportation, or public works projects</strong></li>
